Pirates of Penzance!

York Opera introduce Pirates of Penzance at York Theatre Royal.

After climbing over rocky mountains and skipping rivulet and fountain, you can now find York Opera Pirate Bear in York Theatre Royal from the 4th – 8th November.  Join York Opera for this swashbuckling performance of Pirates of Penzance!

The Pirates of Penzance tells the story of young apprentice pirate, Frederic, and his attempts to escape a life of crime.

On a rocky Cornish sea-shore we meet the eponymous pirates and their charismatic Pirate King. The arrival of an unbelievably large number of Major General Stanley’s daughters brings chaos – and eventually, the Metropolitan Police – into the pirates’ previously idyllic existence.

York Opera Pirate Bear is here to spread the word of the show, by travelling from coast to coast and even making trips across the English Channel. But as he is a Pirate Bear from the 21st century, he has seen fit to let the world know where he has visited by posting pictures of his adventures on Twitter. From setting off from York on the day of Le Grande Depart, he commandeered a boat travelling along the Ouse and set off for the rest of the United Kingdom.

Keep an eye on Pirate Bear’s escapades on the York Opera Twitter page ‘@yorkopera.’
