Tasty Bites at Dough!

Tasty Bites at Dough!

Bootham is becoming quite the place to dine out, with a whole load of little cafes and restaurants lining the streets.  And the latest one that caught our eye was, “Dough”.  As I was walking down Bootham, I was hit by the most amazing smell of pastry and bread – and I knew I’d made it to my destination.

This wonderful little family business is the brain-child of Colin and Heidi Poma-Young, and is the second Dough store, with the first being in Easingwold.  Inspired by good Italian cooking, and appreciating good honest food, you will find an array of delicious treats to take your fancy.

Shelves laden with focaccia bread in a host of flavours, cheesy calzones, crispy pizzas, and some impressive homemade pasta!  Don’t fill up though!  Leave space for flapjack, biscuits and even meringue to accompany your lunch – and all made fresh within the bakery, so there are no nasty bits.  The drinks are impressive too, with real barista coffee, fresh iced tea, and some delicious milkshakes made with Italian ice-cream.

My Food

During our trip we enjoyed a delicious Strawberry Milkshake, which was perfectly creamy and smooth, along with a refreshingly tangy Iced-Tea.  Our lunch consisted of Ham & Mushroom Calzone, followed by a freshly baked Chocolate Hazelnut Biscuit.  Lunch was warmed up for us, and made the perfect accompaniment to our trip to the Park!

All of the products were very tasty, with vibrant flavours and the perfect crunch.  There is something very special about knowing that it’s been freshly baked, and the warm baking smells definitely help enhance your enjoyment when eating.

The Prices

Considering that you’re not purchasing from a chain, and your food has been freshly baked in the back of the store, you’re getting amazing value for money.  Biscuits from only 70p, and BIG slice of pizza for only £2.00.  The Focaccia is very sizeable, and priced at only £2.50 – it’s a real steal (we were very tempted by the Olice Focaccia!).

If you’re around Bootham, and fancy picking something up for your lunch, definitely try Dough out.  A hearty, freshly baked snack, packed full of flavour, and at fantastic prices….what more could you need!
